Pineapple Khatto

Pineapple Khatto is basically pineapple soup. It is perfect blend of sweet - tart flavor. I am sure you would love to sip on to this beverage on a rainy day!


  • 1/4 teaspoon coriander seeds
  • 1/4 teaspoon blackpeppercorn
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 2 dry red chillies
  • 1 usual sized pineapple
  • 2 cups water
  • Litttle peeled ginger
  • 11/2 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/2 cup lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon urad dal
  • 1/2 teaspoon mustard seeds
  • 1 -2 dry red chillies
  • 5 - 6 fresh curry leaves
  • 1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1/3 cup coconut milk


  1. Dry roast coriander seeds, pepper corns, cumin seeds and dry red chillies. Cool them and grind together.
  2. Keep aside 2 rings of pineapple. Add water, ginger, lemon juice, salt and blend the rest of pineapple. 
  3. Heat oil in a deep sauce pan. Add urad dal, mustard seeds, curry leaves and one dry red chili. When mustard seeds starts to crackle, add turmeric powder.
  4. Add ground spice mixture and broth. Bring to boil and let it simmer for 5 minutes. 
  5. Add coconut milk, stir and simmer for another few minutes.
  6. Serve hot with reserved pineapple wedges.
